| out of shape,
out of mind |
This is a beginners
series created for people with chronic pain and disease. You will improve
from the very first class. Anyone can come and try it no matter what
physical fitness.
The most common misconception that prevents people from
coming
to a yoga class is thinking that you have great flexibility to do yoga.
Just come
and "try right" to do each posture and you will get 100% benefit.

| same thing, different day |
| Part of Bikram's genius comes from designing the
flow so that one posture opens a specific area of the body in preparation
for the next posture.
By utilizing the same flow every class, Bikram's yoga has a much shorter
learning curve than other rigorous styles of yoga. |

| looking good, billy ray. feeling good,

No matter what level of fitness you are this
yoga will be a challenge you never outgrow. You will be amazed how much
cardiovascular workout
you get from
holding still in posture. Your body continually seeks to normalize in yoga.
Consistency is the key. With persistence, patience and dedication your
body will come into balance.

| youth is wasted on the young |
| People
of any age and condition can do this yoga. It reduces the symptoms of many chronic
diseases and is the world's best preventative activity for the whole body. Bikram
created this yoga for people in chronic pain. He created it to eliminate their
pain and to reverse the signs of aging. |
 |
| your body speaks |
| It is normal to feel sick, dizzy, and
nauseous in class, especially for the beginner. The most important thing
for you to do is breathe and just try the postures. Just do the best you
can, resting when you feel the need. Learn to listen to your own body and
take care of yourself in class. Drink lots of water the day before class
to make sure you are well hydrated. A headache is a symptom of dehydration.
Feeling tired or wiped out after class is a sign that you need to breath
more in class. The worse you feel, the more you need Bikram yoga. |
 |
| y'all come back now |
| Come to class as often as you can. Ideally,
5 times a week for the first 2 or 3 months. This gives your body a jump
start, the maximum benefit. A daily practice can eventually relax into
a regiment of 3 or 4 times a week. The harder this yoga is for you initially,
the more you need to do it and the more you are going to benefit from it.
Your investment will be returned to you tenfold. |
 |
| Returning Students |
Remember, this yoga is powerful and
challenging so pace yourself, don't force yourself, and don't expect to
be perfect overnight. It's the instructors job to push you, and your responsibility
to know what is enough for your body on any given day.
Your improvement will depend entirely on the time and effort you invest.
Respect your limits without babying yourself, but also expect those limits
to change. Just do your best. The harder this yoga is for you the more
you need to do it and the more you are goining to get out of it.
This yoga works! The time and effort you put into it well return to
you tenfold. It's the very best thing you can do for your health, your
figure, your vitality, and your sense of well being. |
 |
| what! you're pregnant? |
| The first trimester is a vital time for the developing
fetus and you may be tired and/or feeling ill. Therefore, it is best to
wait until after your 12th week before starting the yoga. Postures are
modified for pregnancy but done with the regular students so you are welcome
at any class. If you already do Bikram yoga and feel well you may just
continue your regular practice until you feel the need for the modifications
(between 8 and 12 weeks). |

| Bikram Yoga Rap Song |
| Nashua Bikram Yoga.
We wear less than a toga.
The teacher is Miranda.
We all understand her.
If the Red Sox can do it.
So can ya.
Go ahead and try the toe stand-a.
She's got our number.
It was brutal this summer.
So hot it's a bummer.
Just ask any new comer.
Yoga heals what ails ya.
No time for fail-ya.
Gotta puff an inhala.
Just to keep up with Mikhala.
A little tweak, a little stitch.
Every position is a son of a bitch.
Better eat your spinach.
Ninety minutes of hell.
Nobody's saved by the bell.
The pain makes ya wanna yell.
Stretch up, stretch down.
Face, red as a clown.
Stretch left, stretch right.
My freak'n hamstrings are so tight.
After the last pose.
Nobody smells like a rose.
It's like ya been hosed.
Hit the road, try not to doze.
One thing's for sure.
We come back for more.
Cuz health is the allure.
And Bikram opens the door.
