After your first Bikram class, what was your impression?

Holy Goodness what a work out. I had never worked so hard and sweat so much with out leaving the confines of my mat.

What drives you to continue to practice? What keeps bringing you back?

I keep returning because I never have the same class, what I mean is that each time I practice the class is so different and challenging in new ways. I like the challege of consistently trying to better myself.

What are some of the benefits and changes you've seen in yourself?

I have had problems with my sciatic nerve since I started working at my current job. I no longer have any discomfort in my sciatic region. I have also noticed postive changes in my muscle tone and overall strength. (My hands and feet especially) I have also noticed that my patience has increased, especially in the heat (I sometimes work in a very busy and hot kitchen) .

What is your favorite posture in the series and why?

Standing Seperate leg Stretching Pose, my first few classes I never thought my hamstrings would stretch enough to allow me to lock my knees in the pose, but they have. And I marvel everytime that I am able to staighten and lock my knees. I can't wait to be able to get my forehead on the floor.

What is your greatest challenge about the yoga? Yourself?

Cobra series and Triangle are my two most difficult times in class and I have to keep pushing myself through them. I feel very proud of myself when I am able to complete any part of cobra series and when I know that I did triangle correct or at least to the best of my ability for that day.

What advice can you give to a 1st timer after they complete the class?

You honestly don't notice the heat as much after your first few classes. While it may get easier to be in the room the longer you practice, the yoga becomes more of a challege and more enjoyable.
