After your first Bikram class, what was your impression? My
first class was over 3 years ago, but I remember feeling proud that I
made it through the class. It was the second class that I thought
to myself, "Can I really keep this up? This is tough!" Here
I am, 3 years later, still loving the challenge.
What drives you to continue to practice? What keeps bringing you back?
Every class is different. I continue to improve in some
areas and find areas that still need improvement.
What are some of the benefits and changes you've seen in yourself?
I quit smoking three years ago after 3 months of Bikram
Yoga. I am able to maintain my weight, when I indulge over the
holidays as an example, I know yoga will whip me back into
shape! The biggest benefit I've recieved has clearly been the
way it prepared me to give birth to my son Jackson. I never lost
my
body shape, many friends commented that I looked the same with a big
belly! I didn't suffer the way many women do. I didn't lose my
sense of balance, have strong cravings, gain a ton of weight,
have
depression etc... I had a wonderful pregnancy. During my delivery
the
nurses were amazed at my endurance and stregth. One nurse asked
if I
was a dancer or something. I amazed them all when I bent over and
caught Jackson myself on the final push! To all the women out
there
looking to have a baby, yoga is the perfect tool to prepare you!
Breathing, focusing, concentrating, using every ounce of strength you
have-what a perfect fit!
What is your favorite posture in the series and why? Rabbit, I feel a
huge releace afterwards. Almost like I am a sponge being squeezed from
top down! All the stress I am storing in my body just gets rung
out! One month after birth I was back to yoga and did rabbit
again and I started crying after the incredible releace from the stress
of the delivery and taking care a newborn. What a great
feeling!
What is your greatest challenge about the yoga? Yourself?
Shuting off my mind!
What advice can you give to a 1st timer after they complete the class?Give
it a try, you'll be amazed. It takes a few classes to get accustomed
to the heat.
